We did our big site launch over the weekend. The Alumni Association for the school district has asked that we remove the "married" last names from those who have yet to join, as this is not necessarily public information until the member joins and basically has a say in what's displayed.

Is there an easy way to go in and strip this field from classmates who have yet to join?

Thanks

The only way to do it is to individually edit each classmate and remove the last name field.

Another option is to use your UPLOAD file that you used. Edit it so that only those classmates with a married last name are in the file, delete the married last names, then go to Manage Classmates, Upload Classmates, RESET CLASSMATES, choose only those classmates who haven't joined yet and will be in your upload file. Reset these classmates (they will get deleted). Then upload the smaller file again. This way, all of the married names won't show up.

Wow, that's an amazing interpretation of privacy law. I suppose then that one couldn't even post the classmate's name using that exact same reasoning.

I really don't get itConfused Married names ARE public information.
