Delayed time to insert/delete images on File Vault

It takes time to bring up images from the file vault to insert, so I use the images from my documents ; which puts a lot of the same images in my file vault. Also it takes forever to bring up a file to delete. Is there something I can do to cut the time? Thanks !

Every time you insert another image into the file vault, you are increasing the time it will take to bring up the file vault the next time. The reason is that every time you view the file vault, it needs to get all of the images and image names from the back end so it can display the image if you click on the link and so it will know how to insert the link to the image.

If you want to cut the time, the best thing to do is to start deleting the images no longer needed.

ClassCreator 3.0 is supposed to implement a new version of the editor and file vault. I don't know if the issue you are having will be any better with the new file vault, but it might be.

I don't know what you mean when you say "so I use the images from my documents". If this means you just paste the images from your document without uploading them, then that would mean that the images are referencing YOUR COMPUTER and so only you are seeing those images (in order for a classmate to see the image, they would need the exact file in the exact directory that you have on your computer)..

Thanks for your explanation. There's quite a bit of images in the file vault, and most of them are duplicates of the same image. Again for reasons of convenience I upload images from my own file/documents instead of browsing the file vault to find the image to insert. I timed it once, took 1/2 hour. I'm at 114 of the allowable 200 megabytes and deciding whether to switch to platinum or not.

I tried deleting but that again takes time. In one hour I deleted 2 images. Alerts like " done.error on page" or "javascript void" come up, so I start again. Anyway I understand what you're saying. Thanks again.

I have discussed this with the programmer and he implemented some code so that the image won't be loaded until you click on the link. It will then load the image from the back-end and display it.

It should be faster for you, but it still needs to retrieve all of the image names from the back end, so you might not notice that it is much faster.
