How can I access the photo editor, open a photo in the file vault, superimpose a caption and then save the photo back in the vault?

Do the following:
Gallery Creator
PHOTOS for the gallery you want to modify
Click the EDIT PHOTO button below the photo
Click the ADD TEXT LINE button
Type your text
Click SAVE CHANGES.
Repeat with next photo.

Thanks, but I have no problem editing photos in a gallery. But I would like to be able to use that same editor on a photo which is in the file vault but NOT in a gallery. In this case, it's a photo included in an announcement on the home page. Is this possible?

Nope, not possible with that editor.

There is a free editor that is pretty good. I use irfanview (from www.irfanview.com). It is free and you can probably add text to your photo using that program.

You would first need to save it to your local hard drive (if you didn't upload it in the first place).
