This has happened again and I really cannot find that box on his detail page.

Since he is not a member of your site, he will need to join in order to reset these settings. There is not a way to disable the flag for a non-member.

okay I understand that but why won't the invite to join go out?
Could I just log in to his profile with his email, create a password for him, send him a message to go to his profile page and fix his email to whatever he wants?
Im sorry to be such a geek.

he does not need an invitation to join. He simply needs to go to the Classmate Profiles page, click his own name and then the Join Now button to proceed.
