Morning folks.....I spent all week end scanning and adding year book photos to our website. There is one that I cannot seem to link. The classmate is deceased and his wife entered a profile about him....however for some reason I cannot link his photo to his profile and consequently it does not attach to his IN MEMORY.

Any thoughts???

JIM

I don't know if there's a better solution than this, but why not just go into the profile, copy what his wife has entered there and paste it into his In Memory "profile"?

When a Classmate is marked as deceased, the live profile goes away and the In Memory entry takes over. There is currently only 1 photo slot in the In Memory page. Two things are coming:

1) Ability to add multiple photos
2) Automated link back to the last live profile for those who wish to revisit it

James, Any chance you could tell us how you edited the scanned grad photos to post? I am at a loss as to how to separate them from the scanned page??? Thanks.

Brad could he..

delete the current profile
re-enter the classmate
add the photo
make the profile again

He could do this without asking the wife to do it.

Deleting the profile wouldn't do anything other than make him have to enter the Classmate again. He needs to go to that Classmate's In Memory area, add the one possible photo available right now, and add any content. Until we upgrade that area that's the ONLY functionality in the In Memory area.

Any photos put into the Classmate's Profile, before marking the Classmate as deceased, are going to do absolutely nothing. Other than disappear when the Classmate is marked as deceased.

From what I was reading I got that he did not have a photo in any of the classmates prior to marking this one classmate as deceased and now it will not let him put the photo because the classmate is marked deceased. So by him deleting the classmate and then recreating it and putting the photo in before marking him as deceased it would get the picture in there. Then he could go and recreate the profile.

The classmates that I had attached their pictures to prior to marking them as deceased still have their pictures there.

ONLY the Senior Photo scan will carry over to the Classmate's In Memory entry. Unless you replace it with another pic, which you can do. No other Classmate photos will transfer over.

I thought that is what he was talking about was the senior photo since he said it was from the yearbook. My apologies if it is not...

Re Bonita's question about "how to separate them (yearbook pictures) from the scanned page":

I opened up the scanned yearbook page in software with the "crop" feature (I used PowerPoint, but lots of graphics software packages have this), then cropped each individual picture and saved it as a jpg file using the persons name in the filename (lastname_firstname.jpg). We have about 350 alumni so this took a long time. It also took a long time to post each picture.

Bonita....I stumbled onto it by accident....I am not very computer savvy. I use HP Photo Premiere...came with my laptop. I sat at the printer/scanner and scanned each page..that was the easy part..then at the key board I just sat for two hours trying different things on the Photo software pages to figure it out! I can give you step by step instructions on my Program but you may have something different.

I am not a very patient person and it really frustrates me when I have to work SLOWLY on these things. Then I really start to feel dumb! Then that just aggrevaites the situation!

Sorry I can not be much more help....JIM

HI Guys...I believe I have the picture thing figured out. Brad please tell me if this is correct....what ever I realy did worked, but just so I have it in my little pea brain.....

Before last Sunday, there was a classmate profile. Then he was listed as deceased without a picture added. That blocked the profile and when you clicked on his name it went straight to the IN MEMORY area. I was trying to add his yearbook picture to the Profile area and it woud not take it cause that area was inactive due to the fact that he is now listed in the deceased. So I had to go to the In Memory area and add the picture, and now it shows when you click his name. But it ONLY shows in the IN MEMORY section. And that is fine with me as long as I have his picture somewhere. Now is wife will have to go in today and add any thing she wants about him in the deceased section almost like an obituary announcement. No problem with that!

I think if I had put his picture in the profile section first....then listed him as deceased his pic would have automatically moved to the deceased section but all the data in the profile section would be gone!

Brad...make sense?

JIM

Yes. If you had put his picture in the SENIOR PHOTO slot (that only you the Administrator have access to) it would have automaticlaly carried over when you marked the Classmate as deceased. No Classmate photos or any other Profile information carries over.

Additional In Memory functionality (ability to put in more pics, etc.) is coming.
