Time Zone being ignored in chat

The time stamps in chat windows are showing times in GMT. I checked the Preferences and the time zone is in fact set for GMT -5 Eastern.

It's intermittent; I've actually seen the timestamps fluctuate between local time and GMT during the course of a single IM session.
