When creating a profile, it might be beneficial to have classmates type in their password TWICE to assure they've created the password they "thought" they created. i.e. Just like we have to type in our e-mail twice to make sure it is correct.

We could, although I would point out that most systems don't. Standard procedure is just the double email address. In the rare cases somebody mistypes their password they can quickly retrieve the incorrect password with the built-in password retrieval tool anyway. It wouldn't be that big of a deal to ask for a double password, but then that same school of thought could potentially be applied to any field, street address, phone number etc.
