I know that the DNS answer for www and @ settings are to use DNS zone settings at the 'non-CC DNS record". (to point to 69.41.171.62). but what would I do about the mail record? Would I point that here, too? Thanks!

We're on the ad-supported system at this point. I'm betting that I need to use another mail host for our school-name mail.
But outgoing mail/announcements, etc should work on the free system, either way.

Right. All site emails and all Email the Class emails will come from noreply@classcreator.net. The from name will be your name though. Check out our FAQs link above and take a look at the email section. If you want to set up pop paks etc. all of the info you need is right there for you.
