How does one manage the items in the right sidebar?

Click on Edit Site Pages under Admin Functions, then find the link for Home page and click on edit page. A new page will open and the bottom box is for editing the right modules. You can turn them on or off, determine who sees them and change the order from there.

I don't know how I missed that. I have edited the Home page a billion times but have usually only gone to edit the Announcements.

Here is a tip for you if you are only adding/editing announcements. There is a Post Announcement link under Member Functions that will take you directly to the Announcement page, bypassing the steps needed to edit the Home page.

I watched that but it doesn't say anything about the right sidebar items. I just didn't look at enough of the homepage edit screen to see the other options presented there.
Too much a creature of habit...Edit Home Page > Edit Announcements...save and go.
