Designing for iPad users

One thing I have noticed since getting an iPad is that our Class Creator web page designs do not always display correctly on these narrow screens. However, it doesn't take too much tweaking to fix it. Most of your text will wrap automatically, but pictures or jpeg type files, if they are too wide, will "push" all your build to the bottom below any Class Creator side boxes (i.e. birthdays, where are they now, Profile updates, etc).

You will have to use an iPad to view this issue. Since more & more people are using them, it's worth the effort to make your site look great on an iPad!

I don't have an IPad so I don't know but if you make these changes - how does it affect the way your PC users see the site? Does it then look too narrow?

There are ways to display things differently depending on the device being used, and there are ways to build the page so that it just adapts to the screen space available. Both require significant planning and testing, and it is in out plans for a future version to address this. We cannot implement these changes in a gradual way, so for now it just is what it is.

Miki, did you fix your site to display your site on an Ipad (home page)? I looks like your site works on an Itouch which is more or less like an Ipad for what we are talking about.

But I'm not sure if that's 100% true.

I use an Itouch (Ipod) to test and the only thing I noticed in terms of alignment is what fits on a PC does not fit on Ipod. I suspect font sizes are a tad different. It only takes 1 pixel difference to trigger.

Someone asked if I originally designed for the iPad: no, I did not. I just noticed the issue when i got the iPad last month. I just checked my iTouch & the display is identical to the iPad, albeit 1/4 the size.

The issue I am talking about is when you see a large "gap" of space in your center home page. The design begins again after the Class Creator items boxes on the right. Most likely the culprit is a photo / picture file that is too wide. This can happen on a regular computer as well. However, you CAN have a perfectly spaced display on the computer & a gapped display on the iPad or equivalent. You will only know if you use an iPad.

I have the same problem with my Toshiba Tablet. I also can't access the links..it's because of the operating system the tablet uses I guess. Until CC makes some updates for the tablets..I will have to live with it.
